Mendon Stake Initiative

Members of the Mendon Utah Stake,

President Nelson has taught, “The Lord has commanded that we spread the gospel and share the covenant…..He wishes for every one of His children to have the opportunity to choose the Savior’s gospel and embark upon the covenant path. God wants to connect all people to the covenant He made anciently with Abraham……That gathering is the most important work taking place on earth today. Nothing else compares in magnitude. Nothing else compares in importance. The Lord’s missionaries—His disciples—are engaged in the greatest challenge, the greatest cause, the greatest work on earth today. But there is even more—much more. There is a huge need to spread the gospel to people on the other side of the veil. God wants everyone, on both sides of the veil, to enjoy the blessings of His covenant.”

In heeding the prophet’s invitation we invite all members of the Mendon Utah Stake to help in this gathering of Israel by “gathering a stake” on the other side of the veil in 2024.  This means we need to perform 3,600 ordinances in the temple for each of the following:

 

• Baptism

• Confirmation

• Initiatory

• Endowment

• Sealing of couples

• Sealing of Sons to Parents

• Sealing of Daughters to Parents

 

Our intent for this stake-wide goal and initiative is to have fun while gathering Israel.  This is not a competition.  Our hope is everyone who chooses to participate may experience the blessings of the Lord, where in Doctrine & Covenants 109 we hear the Prophet Joseph Smith’s petition of the Lord while dedicating the Kirtland Temple:

13: And that all people who shall enter upon the threshold of the Lord’s house may feel thy power, and feel constrained to acknowledge that thou hast sanctified it, and that it is thy house, a place of thy holiness. 

22: And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy name may be upon them, and thy glory be round about them, and thine angels have charge over them;

We invite you to anonymously record the ordinances performed by scanning the QR code below.  Your Elders Quorum and Relief Society presidencies will also be able to help enter this information.  The QR code will also be made available throughout the year. The stake will update our progress on the Stake’s website at www.mendonstake.org 

Our prayer and hope is for you to draw closer to the Savior Jesus Christ as you take your ancestors to the temple, where the stake on the other side of the veil is filled with family and friends.  May the Lord’s choicest blessings and His infinite power be with each of you as we help the Lord gather His children.

We share our solemn witness that God and His Son live and that They love Their children, desiring everyone to experience the blessings of the covenant path.  We know the blessings and the power of the temple are real and available to all. May we come together as a Stake of Zion and together gather an entire Stake on the other side of the veil filled with our family members and friends.

You can make an appointment to the Temple by scheduling online, or call them directly at 435-752-3611 and they will assist you. You can also watch this informative video on how to schedule an appointment at the temple.

 

Please sign up for Tithing Declaration on the Bishop's door. You may also sign up online. The online sign up will end about 2 weeks before tithing declaration specific dates and then you can sign up at the Bishop's office door. If you need more time sign up for two time slots (bigger families). We would like to meet in person but will also accommodate virtual Tithing Declarations.  Please read Elder David Bednar's talk "The Windows of Heaven." Discuss this talk as a family and be prepared to share with the Bishop your insights. Please also identify tithing blessings you have experienced this year.

Please ponder a tithing blessing you have received this year. To view your donations for the year go to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints website. Sign into your account on the right hand side of your screen. Click on "Donations" from the drop down menu. You can then Click on "Donation History" on the left side of the screen. This will give you a report of contributions you have given to the Church of Jesus Christ this year. If you would like a printed report please contact a member of the Bishopric or Brother Shawn Taylor. We are able to do virtual tithing settlement again, but prefer to meet face to face.
